Before you get Shopping in Wizard101, you will need to know the currency types. There are three types of currency:
1. Gold The first and most popular type of currency in Wizard101 is Gold
Gold is used to buy items and treasure cards from shops or vendors. Some items are available for gold in the onscreen ‘Shop’. Gold is usually obtained by completing quests, selling equipment to the shops, defeating monsters, playing mini-games (successfully), or finding treasure chests.
Gold is very necessary to ease your progression through the game, so make sure you get a lot!
- Wizards under level 80 can have a maximum gold of 300,000
- Wizards level 80-90 can have a maximum gold of 350,000
- Wizards level 91-95 can have a maximum gold of 375,000
- Wizards level 96-100 can have a maximum gold of 400,000
- Wizards level 101+ can have a maximum gold of 450,000

2. Crowns
The second type of currency is called Crowns. Crowns are purchased through the Wizard101.com website, and spent in the game.
Crowns are the currency in the Wizard101 micro transaction or ‘cash shop’ system. Crowns are used to purchase items such as treasure cards and clothing in-game.
Crowns can also be used by non-Members to purchase access to Premium Zones.

3. Arena Tickets
The third type of currency is called Arena Tickets. Arena Tickets are earned by participating in Ranked Player vs Player combat and Ranked Derby as well as PvP Tournaments. These Arena Tickets can only be spent at certain shopkeepers at the Arena in Unicorn Way and the Pet Pavilion.
